Twenty-third Meeting of the American Society of Primatologists


INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING ABSTRACTS

  1. For each submission, please complete all portions of the Presentation Information Form, and send 4 copies of the completed form to the Chair of the Program Committee. Note that information about the file (on disk) should also appear on the disk label (see #3 below).
  2. Submit 4 printed copies of each abstract. Please print the abstract on the reverse of the Presentation Information Form, or staple one page with the printed abstract behind the Presentation Information Form.
    1. CAPITALIZE the entire title.
    2. Skip one line, then italicize or underline names or initials of all authors, putting the first name or initials first for each author. Use "and" between first and second authors' names if 2 authors, and if more than 2 authors, use "and" before the name of the last author.
    3. Skip one more line, then using italics or underlining, give the full mailing address of the first (or presenting) author, using the two-letter abbreviation for the state. Include the ZIP code.
    4. Include only the institutional affiliations of co-authors.
    5. Put one blank line between the affiliations and body of the abstract.
    6. The body of the abstract is limited to 225 words.
    7. Indent the first line of the body of the abstract 3 spaces.
    8. Write the abstract as one block paragraph.
    9. Symbols not on your typewriter or word-processing program should be handwritten in BLACK ink, and such symbols need to be noted on the Presentation Information Form.
    10. Use lower-case "p" for probablilities, e.g, p < .05.

  3. Submit one 3.5" disk for each abstract submitted. Put only one version of your file/abstract on the disk. Label each disk with:
    1. The last names of all authors.
    2. The title of the presentation.
    3. The disk format or type - PC/DOS, Windows, Macintosh, etc.
    4. The word-processing program used and version. Microsoft Word 6.0 is the publisher's preferred software; please refer to a recent issue of the American Journal of Primatology for additional information.
    5. The file name, including suffixes, for the abstract. It is suggested that you use the last name of the first author, for the file name, using 1 and 2 if two abstracts are submitted, i.e, LASTNAME1, LASTNAME2 (plus the appropriate suffix).

  4. For symposium participants, CLEARLY include on the disk label the name of the symposium organizer and title of the proposed symposium.
  5. Acknowledgment of receipt of abstracts and scheduling of presentations will be provided via self-addressed, stamped postcards. Please complete and stamp a "Receipt of Submission" postcard (blue) and a "Program Notification" postcard (yellow) and submit them with your packet.
  6. If you absolutely cannot submit your abstract on disk, please contact the Chair of the Program Committee as soon as possible.
