This pictorial presentation covers the early years of the free-ranging colony of rhesus monkeys introduced to the island of Cayo Santiago, Puerto Rico in late 1938 by Dr. Clarence R. Carpenter. Since the previous special symposia in 1983 and 1988, celebrating the 45th and 50th anniversaries of this unique colony, respectively, there have been some interesting discoveries made about the history of the colony and some of the fascinating individuals directly and indirectly associated with it. These will be highlighted in our presentation.
