Compared to other mammals, young primates have an extended period of pre-reproductive dependency and development. This is especially the case in the great apes, which has hampered our understanding of the complexity of variables that influence a growing ape. The goal of this symposium is to highlight new findings from multiple African ape field sites where long-term developmental data have recently become available. Speakers will represent a diversity of approaches, institution types and career stages. |
