In its continuing efforts to meet the needs of students, the ASP Education Committee is sponsoring a roundtable discussion on how to survive graduate school. Following in our tradition of providing practical information (previous sessions have addressed topics like applying for jobs, grants and post-docs), we hope to address some of the common questions and concerns among graduate students as they navigate the rough waters of higher education. A panel of faculty members, recent graduates, and students nearing the completion of their degrees will share their experiences and field questions from the audience. Time permitting, we will include issues such as strategies for getting the most out of your graduate program, how to establish a good working relationship with your graduate advisor, how to garner research experience during the early years of grad school, and how to manage your time so that you can complete your dissertation and still maintain something vaguely resembling a life. We encourage everyone to come and share their thoughts.
